Procedure

Otoplasty is a day surgery carried out under general or local anesthesia. It takes about 1 hour and a half. An incision is made behind the ear to reshape the cartilage in order to give the ear a more aesthetic appearance. This incision is usually very well hidden.

A large dressing is applied to the head. It is removed during the control visit. Contact sports must be avoided for one month after the surgery in order to prevent ear deformities.

The stitches will be removed approximately seven days after the operation.

Swelling and bruising (if present) generally disappear after a week, but may persist for two to three weeks.

Make-up will be allowed once the wounds have healed.

Contact lenses should be avoided for the first two weeks.

The scar, usually almost invisible, may take up to six months to present its final appearance. It may also be completely resorbed only two weeks after surgery.
